Biography
Joy Enomoto is a mixed-media artist living in Honolulu, Hawai‘i. She is of Native Hawaiian, African-American, Japanese, Caddo Indian, and Sikh Indian decent. Her work engages ancestral memory, social justice, and other issues currently affecting Pacific peoples. Her most recent mixed-media work Diasporic Waters was featured in “PAUSE: Bachelor of Fine Arts Exhibition 2014” at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa, In 2013, her photographs were exhibited in “Navigating Queer Pacific Waves” at Galería de la Raza in San Francisco and her mixed-media fiber work was included in the Hawaiʻi Craftsmen Annual Statewide Juried Exhibition. Also in 2013, she was awarded the Jean Charlot Foundation Scholarship. Enomoto has a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of California, Berkeley, and is currently pursuing a bachelor’s of fine art with a focus in photography at the University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa.
