Queenstown Haiku
snow and they are here
in rich winter abundance
buying souvenirs
mountains in sun glare
the lake reflects quietly
photos take their thoughts
camera crazy
focus snap carry us back
for digital show and tell
they gesture and sign
would you take this photo please
don’t cut off our heads
the welcoming hand
discovers humanity
each shared word unites
Remarkables frown
from indomitable heights
one sculpted rock smiles
land’s exhibition
poses for eyes and lenses
translates each colour
Queenstown airport bus
colloquial Kiwi-speak
Asia on safe wheels
flight between mountains
negotiation with peaks
in which language
