The Needing
I felt the need coming around again
It grabs my mind and pulls it in
These screams for more are now insane
To pull one back would do me in
I can not let these lines unravel
The hooks that sank deep into my flesh
They are stuck and will give no travel
Surrounded by this Deadly wire mesh
Those who now I can only view
Think not but once of my dying sin
with every passing sniff it grew
I long to join the chain so thin
Now as the need slowly passes me by
I no longer know for what I yearn
Forever closer to being free to fly
I hope this savage urge will one day turn
Entering the Human Race
The smile that spreads across a face
A timeless sense of Childhood
Happy to be entering the human race
And anything you want to do you could
I see you as my life continues in your eyes
Your image stretched across my mind
To you only death could break our ties
In your happy smile a purpose I can find
I wish to never see a tear escape its home
and a frown to never touch your mouth
on your features my eyes still roam
no greater feeling from east to west to north to south
Rat Race Day
Just another rat race day
More overdue bills to pay
Another smoke and one more beer
On my face a vacant stare
The chime of money down the drain
As my bank account feels the pain
It's just another rat race day
And still I have the bills to pay
Inside the insane mind
To find me here and creep upon this place
Yet by the light we fall too late
A dark and sinister liquid grace
That feeds on man and his need to hate
Your thoughtful soul is lost inside your face
And to find its path is to follow its fate
In the dark the worm quickens in pace
Its dread lost inside at any rate
To find what you will discover in this place
yet to let the light in to late
A strange and somewhat sickened grace
That lets one fall victim to its lusting hate
Your unknown deeds lurk upon your face
And weave entwined in your fate
In your chest the heart loses pace
It is to die that men do highly rate
We Are Always Learning, an Ode to Lexi
In the early months of the year
A babe was born, Beautiful and fair
Her farther firm but gentle with long dark hair
Her mother calm and soothing and full of cheer
In the early months of the year
On that warm summers night
She entered the world without a fright
A rude awakening and strange bright lights
A brave new world with no great plight
On that warm summers night
Now she’s with us all day long
And people visit with gift and song
And still she is calm despite the Throng
And everyone loves her and nothings wrong
Now she’s with us all day long
Days go by and still we learn
Such a beautiful girl who gives no great concern
A babe born into our land of the mighty silver fern
Through the night will she sleep without a toss or turn
Days go by and we will always learn
Dark by Day by Light by Night
Stumble to the toilet
Light the day's first smoke
Think of money for a bit
Then cough and splutter and choke
And while the day begins to slide
And the birds begin to fly
Let the day go by
Slap some shoes on your feet
Take a swig of last night's beer
Walk to the bus stop down the street
And see the people stare
And now as time begins to fly
While the sun's high in the sky
Let the day go by
On the bus and off to work
Someone's got to pay the rent
Backseats where the losers lurk
Get off the bus when your ride is spent
Now your mind begins to fly
Your thoughts escape and float high
As you let the day go by
Get to work just on time
Set up for the day ahead
It is your job to stop suicide
But you'll be smoking till the day you're dead
Once again the day begins to slide
And now the birds no longer fly
But still you let the day go by
Finish work and light another smoke
It's dark and time to head for home
Then drink and drink until you choke
And collapse outside on a garden gnome
As the light begins to die
You may for once just know why
You had to let the day go by
Horrendous Night
These thoughts make me nervous
First light makes me fear the day
Every passing second is horrendous
And I wish I could make the minutes stay
Every moment that passes by
every speck of dust or light
Another piece of time let fly
Another hour closer to another lonely night
Entering the Human Race
The smile that spreads across a face
A timeless sense of Childhood
Happy to be entering the human race
And anything you want to do you could
I see you as my life continues in your eyes
Your image stretched across my mind
